Our best waterproof adhesive is PU30. In a nutshell, it is a ‘half-hour’ solvent-free moisture curing PU wood glue. It is rapid-setting and the initial bond strength is achieved within 30 minutes.
Because it has an open time of up to 20 mins (10 mins if glue-line is misted with water), it is easy to work with. Also, due to its chemical composition, it is ideal for bonding wood-based materials where a water-proof bond is required.
What’s more, it has very good adhesion to pre-treated metals such as galvanised steel, high grade steel, undercoated steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metals, as well as thermosetting plastics, polystyrene, glass fibre polyesters, rigid PVC, ABS, and cementitious materials.
The adhesive is suitable for external applications where frost and water resistance is needed, for example garden furniture. What’s more it is also sea-water proof and can be used for bonding components used in boat building. Finally, our best waterproof adhesive PU30 is also resistant to acid and chemicals.
When using the adhesive, it is important to bring the substrates together and apply pressure until the bond has set. Basically that time varies according to humidity and temperature, but it is typically 30 minutes minimum.
